Today was a day for good-byes. After several years of putting it off and just plain "out of sight and out of mind" reasons, I finally had an appointment with the dermatologist (which took me three months to get in to this doctor). I went seeking to have what I thought was a mole removed near my left ear. The doctor said that he believed it to be a "cherry angioma" but they'll send it off to make sure. It was located in a place where it was always being "provoked" (nurse's words, not mine) by shaving, combing hair, etc. Anyway, long story short - it's gone. It's somewhat of a shame, as I'd gotten quite attached to it. (RIM SHOT!!!) It will be SORELY missed! Ha! I kill me!

The Great Mary Kay Escape
Since Sharon hosted a Mary Kay Party at our house today, the little guy and I "escaped" to Salisbury where we did some bartering for a few new Transformer toys. After, we stopped by Subway for a $5 footlong (do you have the jingle stuck bin your head now?)

That's Old School
Now that's "Old School"! Our organist showed me this old hymnal at church today. I had to chuckle, as this expression means something a bit different these days.

China Adoption - where we are (sigh)
We get an update as to the status of our adoption "dossier" about once every month. As of right now, sadly we still have about 16 months to go before receiving a referral, which would be July of 2010. This is a couple of months further than what we had been anticipating - we had thought May. And since you usually don't travel until a month or so after that. This may mean we wouldn't travel until August, which would be a horrible time with Sharon and Nathan needing to start a new school year. Things could change, but the wait has been getting gradually longer and not shorter for over a year now. When we started, the wait was supposed to only be 18 months. It is now 37 months. This is somewhat sad news for us, but it does give us more time to save money and make other preparations.
Snow 2009 Pics
I was negligent and forgot about posting pictures here from last week's 4 inch snow here. We had a great time, and this really was the first snow big enough for the little guy to truly get out and enjoy. We built a very nice snowman (named "Lance Vance" by our son.) Sadly, our yard is so small now, it took almost all of the snow in the back yard to assemble him. Sharon made snow cream too. It was a really great couple of days.
Chris got a gun.
I knew that title might get your attention. Actually, I did get a gun, but a toy one, specifically a Generation 1 Transformers (circa 1983) Megatron. A family member gave us a tip that one had been sighted at a comic book store in Salisbury for a great price. Those of you who just know him from the recent movie may not realize his original alternate form was a handgun. His robot mode is actually VERY goofy looking. Anyway, there's no danger of me hurting anyone with this guy. I'm actually bidding on his accessories on eBay now.

Block Party
The little guy returned from a weekend at Memaw and Pepaw's, so to celebrate we had a "block party."

ServePro at Work
We arrived at church this morning to find the choir room and downstairs hall flooded with a few inches of water. The culprit seems to be a clogged up drainage pipe of some sort. ServePro was called in to begin the work of drying things out. The choir went without robes this morning and we rehearsed in the Sanctuary. My office also got soaked, as it's right across the hall. The Music Library also got hit, and had the water been a few inches higher, I would have had a lot of damged music. It's probably going to take several days to get everthing dried out (and now we've got snow on top of all the rain). Still, I feel very fortunate that at this point is does not appear any major equipment was damaged.
The Man Room - completed (almost)
Hi!
This week I was able to put the finishing touches on the collector shelves in "the man room" - aka the bonus room, multipurpose room, room above the grarge, etc... The only thing left to do in this area is paint the side walls, which will probably be a cream color. And as you can see, here are my "toys," some of which have been in storage until recently. I've still got a bit or organizing to do with them, but it's nice to have them on display.
Hey wait - How's Sharon get in that one picture!!! Isn't this supposed to be the MAN ROOM?
