This vacation video I believe really sums up what life feels like sometimes.
On the putt-putt course of life, why am I always stuck with the insurmountable obstacle?

Vacation that wasn't a vacation
I thought I would post a few photos from our recent attempt at a vacation in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. I call it an "attempt" because the first three days of the trip Sharon had a stomach virus, and the remainder of the trip I had the flu. Thankfully, Nathan was spared any illnesses, and in the overlap times Sharon and I had a few moments of sightseeing and family time. We began in New Market, VA where we spent the first night and saw Luray Caverns. We then checked into our condo in Basye, VA for a few days, spent a day in the D.C. area, and then back to Basye before finally coming home a day early. I really wish I could have a "do-over" on this trip, as this one was such a let-down in many ways.
Still, here are a few of the high points:

Turtle and boy ready to go
The little guy and his build-a-bear friend "Turtleley Turtle" are both buckled up and ready to go. He thought that T.T. needed to have a matching hat for this journey.

Sparkling 4th
The little guy had his first taste of sparklers this evening. After a busy day of shopping and a meal at Red Robin, we retired to the house where a neighbor gave us several boxes of sparklers. These were just your basic run-of-the-mill kind, but the little guy (after a nervous first attempt) enjoyed these nifty little user-friendly firecrackers.

One shall stand.... One shall purr...
I caught my cat Peepers up atop the piano after I got home from church standing next to Optimus Prime. (And no, I didn't stage this either. I mean, yes I love Transformers but I'm haven sunken to the level of photographing them with my pets.........yet).
